This help page describes the M&R data input screen for schools called ‘Your natural gas meter(s)’. Use this screen to add, review and update details for your natural gas connection(s), or GPRN(s).
A GPRN is a unique number assigned to your school's natural gas connection, if you have one. The consumption data corresponding to the GPRN(s) reported by you is provided to SEAI by the natural gas meter operator (Gas Networks Ireland). So, there is no need for you to manually report the amount of natural gas consumed. The vast majority of schools that use natural gas have one GPRN only.
- This screen is only visible if you have chosen ‘GPRN natural gas’ as an energy type.
- If you have not already added a GPRN to the system, this page displays text and a green ‘Add meter (GPRN)’ button.
- If you previously added GPRN(s) to the system, a table is shown, followed by two yes-no questions.
- If your GPRN(s) have not changed and you previously answered ‘yes’ to both questions, all you need to do is check that these answers are still valid and click ‘Save & continue’.
- Answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to the two questions.
- Use the green 'Add meter (GPRN)’ button if you need to add a GPRN.
- Use the action buttons in the right-hand column in the table to edit or delete a GPRN.
- The first question relates to the ‘ownership’ of the natural gas account.
- It asks whether the bills for the natural gas account(s) are addressed to your school and whether the school been responsible for paying them.
- For most schools, the answer to this first question is yes. Exceptions include instances where the natural gas bill was paid on behalf of the school by another organisation for one or more years, or where another organisation occupied the premises (and paid the natural gas bill) for one or more years.
- The second question asks whether your school uses all the natural gas billed through the meter(s).
- For most schools the answer to this second question is also yes.
- Exceptions include instances where a school shares a natural gas connection with another organisation.
- Click the ‘Add meter (GPRN)’ button on the top-right.
- Complete the dialogue, noting that the fields with asterisks are mandatory.
- Your GPRN is prominently displayed on your bills. Suppliers provide sample bills on their websites showing where to find the GPRN on their bills. If you cannot find your GPRN, contact your energy supplier who will be able to check for you.
- Please check carefully that any GPRNs that you add correspond to your school.
- Find the GPRN and click the edit icon on the right of the table.
- Edit the dialogue, noting that the fields with asterisks are mandatory.
- Find the GPRN and click the delete icon on the right of the table.
- This will remove the GPRN, including any historical consumption, from your account.
- If you answer ‘no’ to either question you will have to provide additional information on a subsequent validate your natural gas meters screen.
- Deleting a GPRN will permanently remove it from the system. A GPRN should only be deleted if your organisation never consumed energy through the meter.
- The consumption data corresponding to the GPRN(s) reported by you is provided to SEAI by the natural gas meter operator (Gas Networks Ireland). So, there is no need for you to manually report the amount of natural gas consumed for GPRN natural gas.
- When a new GPRN is added to the system, SEAI can typically only access consumption data for the previous seven years. If you require data for earlier years, you will need to work out the relevant annual consumption for these years, by reviewing your old bills, and then manually self-report it as energy type ‘non-GPRN natural gas’.
