This help page provides guidance on completing section 4.3 'Display energy certificates' of your organisation's Statement on compliance with the 2023 Climate Action Mandate.
§4.3 Display energy certificates
Display an up-to-date Display Energy Certificate in every public building that is open to the public to clearly show energy use.
Display Energy Certificates ("DECs") are required for buildings occupied by public bodies that are frequently visited by the public. This applies if the public body is in a multi-tenanted building.
Note that DECs have been required for large buildings occupied by public bodies that are frequently visited by the public since 2012 (S.I. No. 243/2012 - European Union (Energy Performance of Buildings) Regulations 2012). Large public buildings are defined as buildings with a Total Useful Floor Area (TUFA) of greater than 250m2 .
DECs must be updated every year, to reflect current energy use trends.
Please summarise how you are complying with this requirement, setting out which buildings are visited by the public and have an up to date DEC displayed.
Please provide summary of progress to date (number of buildings visited by the public that have a DEC) and timeline for completion.
Please provide a timeline for implementation
Please explain why this requirement does not apply to your buildings.
